This program provides alternative routes to graduation for all members of our community to complete graduation requirements - especially those who have not found success or satisfaction in other school programs.

The Ministry of Education established 9 Regional Correspondence Schools between 1984 and 1990 which subsequently became the Distance Education Schools. The Vancouver Learning Network School was established in 1990 and serves students within the Lower Mainland.  The Vancouver Learning Network school now offers over 200 online and correspondence courses.

Electric Education is a Distributed Learning program which provides curriculum and support to parents and students who are looking for alternative ways to complete the BC Dogwood.  We are located in the O’Brien Technology Center in Dawson Creek, BC. The school provides hard copy and online curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12, as well as Adult Learners. Electric Ed. provides Home Learners with an option within the public school system. Most students attend once a week for course assistance and the opportunity to socialize with students their age.  Currently, Electric Ed is moving towards providing more courses and student support online.  Virtual classrooms, online tutoring, online resources, and onsite course assistance engage students in self-directed learning. 

Coquitlam Open Learning K-9 offers customized, full-time learning options for K-9 students. Our program joins students and parents with certified teachers to provide a unique and comprehensive learning experience for families. By blending weekly face-to-face activities with ongoing virtual and home schooling options, Coquitlam Open Learning K-9 strives to meet the unique learning needs of every family.

Juan de Fuca Distributed Learning (School District No. 62-Sooke) offers grade 8-12 BC Ministry of Education authorized courses leading to grade 12 graduation. The curriculum is delivered using electronic delivery, face to face communication, paper-print based materials, or a combination of these. Electronic delivery includes online courses that use a computer-based delivery, conferencing, virtual classrooms, electronic mail service, seminars, group activities or a combination of these. Students enrolled in JDFDL may take their educational program from home, enroll full-time or part-time or combine a distributed learning program with classroom based instruction in a District school. The JDFDL program meets the provincial standards as outlined in the School Act and is directed and supervised by BC College of Teacher certified teachers. Students receive on-going assessments, report cards, provincial grades and a permanent student record for any courses taken.
