Work Experience Program
The work experience program offers students a unique opportunity to work in local businesses and industry as part of their school day and course work. Work experience is a supervised and monitored program that includes a combination of paid or unpaid work along with some course work and assignments. Some of the benefits that the work experience program offers include the following:
- Develop skills and knowledge of an occupation
- Help determine future career choices
- Create local contacts and references
- Create possible future employment opportunities
- Job experience and Portfolio
- Safety awareness
- Connect what is learned in the classroom with the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed in the workplace
- Gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be successful in the world of work
- Understand the similarities and differences in behaviour standards between the workplace and school
