About BCTC AquaVan

The BCTC AquaVan is an award-winning mobile educational program that includes a 32-foot cube truck with live marine and freshwater animals, simulated seashores, aquatic artifacts, puppets, props and pictures. BCTC AquaVan travels to schools and communities throughout BC and Alberta. The overall goal is to bring the success of Aquarium programs to classrooms and communities that otherwise would not have the opportunity to see, touch and experience aquatic animals in person.

AquaVan - Truck 2009

Students can touch real aquatic artifacts, such as a killer whale’s jaw, an urchin’s teeth and an otter’s pelt. Older students use microscopes, props and videos to explore aquatic ecology.

Each BCTC AquaVan program is designed to inspire the stewardship of all aquatic habitats and to encourage the discovery of connections between animals, environments and ourselves.
