New Rural Teachers

The purpose of the new teachers program is to provide support for professionals inexperienced in working in rural districts with challenges unique to rural and remote settings.

 This year, the New Rural Teacher Program will include:

  • An evening orientation session led by Alison Sidow and Bev Young. Both of these educators are experienced teachers, and administrators in small rural districts and presently are Superintendent’s of rural school districts. 
  • A full day workshop with Faye Brownlie, a literacy expert from our province 
  • Participation in the 3rd annual Rural Conference and 
  • Five on-line sessions with experienced rural classroom coaches focussed on the following themes: (see Rural Teacher Invitation Letter

    2. Assessment and Evaluation December 8 
    3. Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning January 26 
    4. Interactive teaching and learning strategies for Literacy March 2 
    5. Interactive teaching and learning strategies for Numeracy April 13  
  • New Rural Teachers Cohort Program invitation
