Networking and Resources
Networking and Resources  The value of collaboration between and among individual professionals is well understood, and practically a given in most school cultures. Michael Fullan, Linda Kaser, Judy Halbert and others have now begun to document the power of collaboration or networking among schools and school districts.

In British Columbia, there are many examples of successful networks. Among the networks that demonstrate the power of shared expertise and collaborative problem-solving are:

The Network of Performance Based Schools (NPBS) is an action research community designed to improve student learning. Network schools use teacher developed and validated classroom-based performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy and social responsibility.

Every year, the Network collates and publishes school stories so that others can learn from their challenges and successes. The Healthy Schools Network is a component of the NPBS.

The Aboriginal Enhancement Schools Network (AESN) was developed in partnership with the Network of Performance Based Schools to support teacher and principal inquiry in BC schools focused on the goals of district enhancement agreements.

The Healthy Schools Network (HSN) was established to address a variety of academic, social and emotional concerns of students through a comprehensive school health approach. The Healthy Schools Network is a component of the Network of Performance Based Schools.

The British Columbia Rural and Small School Teachers Association also provides support for teachers working in rural and remote areas.

The Community Learning Network, established by Open School BC, helps K–12 educators to integrate technology into the classroom. It provides links to free resources, organized by theme.
