Spotlight Speakers
Here is a brief outline of the Spotlight presentations at the conference.
Workplace Learning Stream
Organizations that deliver workplace learning programs to adults tend to approach learning differently than do K-12 public schools. They often approach curriculum development by conducting a needs assessment to identify what has changed in the workplace that gives rise to the need for learning rather than entire grade based provincial outcomes. They then identify what content to include using a content analysis strategy rather than using provincial curriculum guidelines. And, they approach instructional design using a time & cost focus rather than learning relatively generic concepts over extended periods of time.
Educators may find these approaches confirming or enlightening and may wish to consider them in their design and delivery of learning experiences for children.

Post-Secondary Stream
The intention of this stream was to provide a different view for K-12 educators regarding their approach to online teaching and learning. Although we've always had some input from post secondary before, we've never focused on it. This year we invited a number of organizations to deliver a Spotlight that provoke you to start thinking outside the box. The approach used by post secondaries to design and deliver online learning programs is different than the way K-12 educators do it.
