Pre-Conference Session

Quality in E-Learning

This year the Virtual School Society, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education,  held a pre-conference session on April 21, 2009 at SFU Harbour Centre.

Educators from distributed learning schools all over BC attended this pre-conference.

The Quality in e-Learning: Leading Learning Symposium, a practitioner-focused professional learning opportunity, enabled participants to connect with other teachers and administrators, share experiences and expertise, and explore ways to increase student engagement through quality instructional and leadership practices.

The day was structured to facilitate dialogue:

  • Participants were invited to bring laptops to share ideas (wireless access was provided)
  • Workshop sessions were 80 minutes and designed to invite discussion and sharing
  • There was a 90 minute "birds of a feather" lunch period.

This symposium was offered on a cost-recovery basis. The fee covered nutrition breaks, lunch, space and materials.
