One of the best ways to help children succeed in school is to understand what they’re learning, how they’re developing, and what the education system expects of them – year by year, grade by grade. Recognizing the critical role of parent involvement in children’s learning, the Ministry of Education has developed resources that provide this information – as well as a series of parent guides that you can use at home.
Achieve BC provides information and tips on How Children Learn for students from Kindergarten age to Grade 9.
The Helping Your Child Learn series is designed for parents with children in Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grades 4 to 7, and Grades 8 to 9.
For tips on supporting student learning in Grades 10 – 12, see the Graduation section of this website. You may also want to look at options for parent involvement in the school system.
