Homeschooling

Homeschooling is another option for B.C. children and families. If you choose to teach your child at home, you must (by September 30th each year) register your child with a public, independent, Francophone or distributed learning school.

Registration gives you access to provincial teaching and learning resources. However, if you homeschool, you are responsible for designing and delivering your own educational program.

Want to know more about homeschooling? Visit the Ministry of Education homeschooling webpage for detailed information on roles, responsibilities and policies.

You may also want to check with your local school district for homeschool supports. Some districts have websites and other resources specifically designed for homeschooling families.
