B.C. schools aren’t just for kids. They also have courses for adults who want to continue or resume their education.
Depending on your needs and interests, you can choose from two basic types of programs:
Adult education programs are delivered by boards of education and colleges across British Columbia. Many courses can also be completed online through B.C.'s many distributed learning schools.
Adults who have not completed Grade 12 can take courses leading to high school completion at no cost – either online or in a classroom setting. Adults who have completed Grade 12 can also take courses free of charge through distributed learning schools.
To find out more about adult education programs in your community, contact your local school district.
Continuing education programs are offered by school districts, as well as by colleges, universities and other post-secondary institutions. Many are for credit and professional development. Others are geared towards hobbies such as gardening or photography. Most courses charge fees.
To find out what’s available in your community, contact your nearest post-secondary institution or your local school district. Or – if you want to take courses online – go to the BC Campus website. It includes a searchable database of all B.C. post-secondary courses available online.
